From 1 December 2010, safety data sheets must be compiled in accordance with requirements set out in Annex I to the Commission Regulation 453/2010/EC.

Below, please find the most important time periods, indicating changes to safety data sheets, classification and labelling of substance and/ or mixtures, in accordance with the Regulations 1272/2008/EC and 453/2010/EC.

 

from 1 December 2010
to 1 June 2015

Safety data sheet for substance and mixture must be compiled in accordance with Annex I to Regulation 453/2010/EC.

Classification of substances in accordance with Directive 67/548/EEC and Regulation 1272/2008/EC, and labelling of substances only in compliance with Regulation 1272/2008/EC.

Classification and labelling of mixtures in accordance with Directive 1999/45/EC. Suppliers of mixtures have the option of double classification in accordance with Directive 1999/45/EC and Regulation 1272/2008/EC, but in such case, the labelling must be compliant with Regulation 1272/2008/EC.

Transitional period:

Without prejudice to provisions of Article 31 par. 9 of Regulation (WE) No 1907/2006:

-      in case of substances placed on the market before 1 December 2010,
which do not require repeated labelling and packing in accordance with Article 61 par. 4 of the Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008, safety data sheet do not have to be replaced with SDS compliant with Annex 1 to this Regulation until 1 December 2012.

-       safety data sheets for mixtures delivered to the customer at least once before
        1  December 2010 may continue to be used and do not have to be compliant  
        with Annex 1 to this Regulation, until 30 November 2012.

after 1 June 2015

Safety data sheet for substances and mixtures must be compiled in accordance with Annex II
to Regulation 453/2010/EC.

Classification and labelling of substances and mixtures in accordance with Regulation 1272/2008/EC (CLP).
