According to Regulation No 1907/2006/EC [REACH], the Safety Data Sheet (SDS) is the basic communication tool for hazard communication and risk management in the supply chain between the manufacturer, supplier and downstream user. The purpose of the SDS is to enable the professional user to take all necessary actions in the workplace to ensure the safety of people and the environment.

The manufacturer, his representative, importer or supplier of a chemical product shall be responsible for the preparation and placing on the market of a safety data sheet that has been properly prepared in terms of both content and form.

Our services related to the preparation of safety data sheets include inter alia:

  • compilation of SDS in EU and selected non-EU languages;
  • SDS verifications / updates;
  • translation from and into the Polish language with adjustment to EU legislation,
  • audit and assessment of existing documentation with regard to compliance with regulatory requirements related to the labelling, classification and marketing of chemical products;
  • preparation and implementation of a schedule for the compilation/updating of multiple safety data sheets;
  • monitoring of notifications and updates;
  • SDS legislation monitoring (subsequent ATP to CLP Regulation and REACH Annex II);
  • notification to information systems in EU countries;
  • development of classification of chemical products according to CLP.

CLP system contains harmonised criteria for the classification of chemical substances and mixtures regarding the hazards they cause for both, human health and the environment. It also covers the harmonised rules for hazard notification, including the requirements concerning labelling and safety data sheets.

From 1 December 2010, safety data sheets must be compiled in accordance with requirements set out in Annex I to the Commission Regulation 453/2010/EC.

Below, please find the most important time periods, indicating changes to safety data sheets, classification and labelling of substance and/ or mixtures, in accordance with the Regulations 1272/2008/EC and 453/2010/EC.
